Taoyuan hub expands Taiwan logistics capacity

A new logistics centre near Taoyuan International Airport more than doubles one operator’s warehouse footprint in Taiwan, tying automation investment directly to high-value regional supply chain flows.

IN Brief:

  • The Taoyuan International Logistics Center spans more than 81,000 sq m.
  • The site sits five kilometres from Taiwan’s main cargo airport and connects into 22 weekly UPS flights.
  • Automation at the facility is designed to raise throughput, storage density, and picking accuracy.

UPS has opened its Taoyuan International Logistics Center in Taiwan, adding more than 81,000 sq m of logistics space close to Taoyuan International Airport and marking its largest and most advanced logistics facility in Asia Pacific.

The nearly US$100 million investment more than doubles UPS’s warehouse footprint in Taiwan. Located around five kilometres from the airport, the site is tied directly into the company’s network through 22 weekly flights in and out of Taoyuan, giving customers a high-speed connection between warehousing, handling, and international uplift.

The facility includes autonomous mobile robots for pick-and-pack and inventory work, with UPS saying the system can process and pack shelves around 40% faster than previous speeds, while also increasing storage density and reducing picking errors to near zero. The centre is positioned for customers in sectors where time, accuracy, and controlled handling carry more weight than simple square footage.

Taiwan’s role in semiconductors and other high-value manufacturing gives the site added significance. UPS has already identified Applied Materials as a user of the facility as its Asia continental distribution centre, underlining how logistics real estate in the market is increasingly being shaped by technology manufacturing and regional supply chain concentration.
