Circle and Setramar digitise Ravenna logistics flows

Circle and Setramar are digitising logistics processes in Ravenna. The project centres on terminal systems, transport management, and electronic documents.

IN Brief:

  • The Port of Ravenna project will review terminal-operating and transport-management systems.
  • e-CMR and e-DDT workflows are being introduced to digitise transport documentation.
  • The partners are targeting faster information flows, stronger interoperability, and more efficient port logistics.

Circle Group and Setramar Group have launched a joint digitalisation project in the Port of Ravenna, with work focused on terminal operations, logistics process management, and transport documentation. The programme is centred on improving how information moves through a busy Adriatic gateway where documentation, system handoffs, and operational timing all shape day-to-day throughput.

The companies said the work would begin with an analysis of existing processes and systems, particularly terminal-operating systems and transport-management systems. That review is intended to modernise both IT and operational workflows, with the aim of improving speed, safety, and the overall quality of information exchange across terminal and logistics operations.

A key element of the project is the introduction of electronic transport documents, including e-CMR and e-DDT, in line with European digital documentation requirements. That gives the project a more practical operational edge than a simple software refresh, because document handling still sits at the centre of shipment release, handover control, and exception management across port logistics chains.

Circle is acting as technology and consulting partner to Setramar in the project, which the companies have positioned as part of a broader push towards digitalisation and interoperability along the supply chain. The Ravenna work is also intended to support wider improvements in network performance and sustainability, linking terminal execution more closely with the data layer that increasingly governs freight visibility and planning.
