IN Brief:
- UPS has more than quadrupled the size of its Incheon Airport hub to almost 6,400 sq m.
- Automated sorting has increased hourly import processing capacity by 4.5 times.
- Imports from Asia Pacific can reach Seoul metro destinations in as little as one business day, with Europe in as little as two.
UPS has expanded its Incheon Airport hub in South Korea, increasing import handling capacity and accelerating delivery times into the Seoul metropolitan area. The company said the site now spans almost 6,400 sq m, more than four times its previous size, with a new automated sorting system that lifts hourly import processing capacity by 4.5 times.
The upgrade is aimed squarely at faster inbound handling from Asia Pacific and Europe. UPS said the new set-up allows imports from across Asia Pacific to be cleared and sent out for delivery in as little as one business day, while shipments arriving from Europe can be delivered in as little as two business days. That sharper timeline reflects the role Incheon continues to play as a regional air cargo gateway for high-value and time-sensitive flows.
The company said the expanded facility also supports more complex healthcare logistics, with temperature-controlled storage ranging from -20C to 25C. UPS operates 56 flights into and out of Incheon each week, linking South Korea into its wider network as the company continues to build out Asia Pacific capacity through investments in Taiwan, Hong Kong, and the Philippines.
Bobby Seo, managing director of UPS Korea, said the increased processing speed meant imports could now reach Seoul-area destinations on the same day they landed. Wilfredo Ramos, president of UPS Asia Pacific, said the company was making targeted long-term investments to help customers move faster and build resilience as trade flows across the region continue to grow.
