APL Logistics opens Amsterdam fulfilment hub

APL Logistics has opened a new Amsterdam fulfilment hub. The 10,200 sq m facility combines multimodal access, automation, and order-level visibility.

IN Brief:

  • APL Logistics has opened a 10,200 sq m distribution and fulfilment centre at the Port of Amsterdam.
  • The site combines autonomous mobile robots, conveyor automation, and customer system integration.
  • The operation is designed to support order management, fulfilment, and EMEA-wide distribution from one hub.

APL Logistics has opened a new distribution and fulfilment centre in the Port of Amsterdam, adding a semi-automated site to its European network as shippers continue to prioritise resilient inland and port-linked fulfilment capacity. The facility brings order management, fulfilment, and distribution together in a single operation and is aimed at customers across the Netherlands and wider Western Europe.

The warehouse is located in the Atlaspark estate and spans 10,200 sq m, with 13 loading docks and multimodal access via barge, rail, road, and air. Its position also places it within easy reach of Rotterdam, giving customers access to deep-sea routes alongside inland European distribution flows. That location is likely to appeal to businesses looking to balance import access, domestic delivery coverage, and regional inventory positioning from one site.

Inside the building, APL Logistics has installed autonomous mobile robots and an automated conveyor system. The centre connects into the company’s wider technology infrastructure, allowing customer system integration and purchase-order-level visibility from origin to destination. Services at the site include quality checks, price labelling, store-level pick and pack, and broader EMEA distribution, suggesting a facility built as much for retail and industrial order control as for storage.

Thad Bedard, president of APL Logistics, said the site was a direct response to customer demand for greater capability, closer integration, and a partner they can rely on for the long term. Kim Overman, regional vice president, EMEA at APL Logistics, added that the Amsterdam operation was intended to help customers manage volatile routing, changing regulatory requirements, and the pressure to improve speed while cutting cost and emissions. The company said the opening forms part of a wider European expansion path through 2026 and beyond.
