Swisslog unveils cross-aisle pallet shuttle at MODEX

Swisslog has launched AgileStore, a new four-way roaming pallet shuttle designed to move across aisles and levels without additional transfer equipment, as the market for high-density automated pallet storage continues to develop.

IN Brief:

  • Swisslog has introduced a new four-way pallet shuttle called AgileStore.
  • The system is designed for cross-aisle and multi-level movement in dense storage layouts.
  • The launch adds to growing competition in flexible pallet AS/RS design.

Swisslog has unveiled AgileStore, a new four-way roaming pallet shuttle developed for high-density automated storage environments.

The system is designed to move forward, backward, laterally, and vertically, allowing pallets to be transported across aisles and between levels without the need for separate transfer equipment. That architecture is intended to give operators more flexibility in how deep-lane storage is configured, while also improving routing options and reducing the amount of manual intervention needed when traffic patterns change or bottlenecks appear.

Swisslog is positioning AgileStore as a response to distribution centres looking for denser pallet storage without locking themselves into rigid layouts. In practice, that means more emphasis on dynamic routing, flexible expansion, and software-led control rather than fixed mechanical pathways alone. The company is also linking the launch to its SynQ software platform, reflecting how tightly equipment design and orchestration are now tied together in modern AS/RS deployments.

The pallet shuttle segment has become more competitive as operators look for storage systems that balance footprint, throughput, and adaptability. Cross-aisle mobility is one of the clearest differentiators in that race, particularly in facilities where SKU profiles, inventory turns, and operational priorities can shift faster than a conventional pallet store is able to accommodate.
