IN Brief:
- Kite Packaging has added a portable electric pallet strapping machine for PET strapping.
- The unit supports adjustable tension, automatic and semi-automatic operation, and cordless warehouse use.
- The product targets load security, ergonomic improvement, and faster dispatch workflows.
Kite Packaging has expanded its packroom equipment range with a portable, battery-powered pallet strapping machine designed to reduce manual strain and improve the consistency of load securing in warehouses, production lines, and distribution centres.
The unit is suitable for PET strapping and can be used on pallets, cartons, bundles, and other packaged goods. It supports 12–19mm strapping and provides adjustable pulling force from 400N to 3,200N, allowing operators to apply different tension levels depending on load type, packaging strength, and transport requirement.
Both automatic and semi-automatic operating modes are available. Automatic mode provides repeatable tensioning, sealing, and cutting for higher-volume environments, while semi-automatic operation gives operators greater control when dealing with varied loads or intermittent strapping work. The cordless design allows the unit to move between packing stations, dispatch lanes, and warehouse areas without trailing cables across walkways.
The machine is powered by an 18V 5.0Ah rechargeable battery, with an approximate charging time of 90 minutes. It has a tightening speed of 18cm per second, adjustable splicing time from 0.5 to 3.5 seconds, LED parameter controls, and a portable format intended to fit into existing packing workflows without major layout changes.
Pallet strapping sits in a part of the operation that can be overlooked until it fails. Poor load containment can lead to product damage, trailer safety risk, rejected deliveries, rework at the dock, and disputes over responsibility once goods leave site. Excessive or inconsistent tension can also damage cartons and products, particularly where lightweight packaged goods, food and drink products, or mixed loads are being secured.
The product arrives as warehouse safety and materials handling standards are receiving renewed attention across the sector. The new UKMHA headquarters in Kibworth has put training, equipment safety, and technical competence into a dedicated national base. Kite’s launch works at the level of daily dispatch activity, but it belongs to the same operational direction: reducing repetitive manual strain while improving consistency.
Manual strapping involves repeated bending, pulling, and tensioning, with strain often falling on the back, shoulders, arms, and wrists. Those movements may appear minor in isolation, yet their repetition across a shift can affect fatigue, concentration, and injury risk. A powered tool reduces the physical force required and gives operators a more controlled process, particularly during busy dispatch periods.
Load-securing processes are also under pressure from changing order profiles. Many facilities now handle a mix of palletised B2B shipments, e-commerce cartons, store replenishment, returns, and production-line dispatch. A tool set up for one type of load can become inefficient when used across several formats. Adjustable tension and operating modes give the process more flexibility without requiring several different devices.
The commercial gain is likely to come from cumulative operational improvement rather than a dramatic one-off saving. Faster strapping, fewer inconsistencies, less rework, and reduced fatigue all contribute to smoother dispatch. In high-throughput environments, those incremental gains can protect service levels during peaks, when manual tasks are most likely to become bottlenecks.
There is also a damage-reduction element. Better load containment can reduce reshipment, waste, and claims, while compatibility with PET strapping aligns the machine with a common material used across distribution and production environments. The sustainability value sits less in the tool itself than in the avoided waste created by damaged goods and unstable loads.
Kite’s electric pallet strapping machine addresses a narrow but persistent warehouse problem. It takes a repetitive manual process and gives it more control, speed, and consistency, which is exactly where many practical productivity gains still sit.
