Australia Post buys Rendr to widen same-day network

Australia Post has acquired delivery platform Rendr, using the deal to strengthen same-day and on-demand delivery capabilities as postal and parcel operators continue to invest in faster, software-led fulfilment models.

IN Brief:

  • Australia Post has acquired Rendr to expand same-day and on-demand delivery.
  • Rendr’s platform matches merchants and delivery partners in real time.
  • The deal extends Australia Post’s push into more flexible service windows and urban delivery options.

Australia Post has acquired delivery technology business Rendr as it pushes further into same-day and on-demand fulfilment across its network.

Rendr operates a software platform that matches merchants with delivery partners in real time, giving retailers and logistics operators more flexibility over cut-off times, dispatch options, and service windows. Australia Post said the acquisition will help extend coverage for same-day and on-demand services, with the business aiming to reach close to 90% of the Australian population through the combined offer.

The move also supports a broader shift in parcel strategy, where carriers are looking to supplement core next-day and standard services with more responsive fulfilment models for metropolitan and time-sensitive shipments. Evening and weekend delivery options are becoming a more common expectation in that environment, particularly where retailers want to keep more orders within their own channels rather than hand speed-sensitive demand to specialist couriers.

Rendr is expected to continue operating as a standalone platform initially before being scaled through Australia Post systems. That creates a route for the postal operator to widen capability without waiting for a full network rebuild, while still using software orchestration to improve utilisation across a fragmented delivery landscape.
